A slow falling snow is the centerpiece of this day. I took a walk in it with the dog and watched it from the window.
It didn’t inspire me to write, rewrite, or submit anything snowy or wintery. Instead, it inspired me to look back at a swimming story and a poem about a garden. Both are written in Tetractys – 5 lines in all – 1 syllable, 2 syllables, 3 syllables, 4 syllables, (1+2+3+4=10) and 10 syllables.
Snow makes me want to eat a powdered donut… Why?
Here I am with my little dog Cupcake (I’m the one in the glasses). I’m a former teacher, a children’s author and poet, a volunteer reader of books on tape for the blind, and a college supervisor of student teachers. Cupcake is a former rescue, a lover of treats, toys, and people, and a certified therapy dog.
I’m new at blogging, but determined. In a perfect world, my blog should serve as a look into the writing life of a picture book author. These days, my writing life consists of figuring out how, why, and whether to be a blogger. The jury is still out on that one. Any advice?
Yay for Turtle Magazine! My recipe submission is in the recent issue. They did such a great job with it. The illustrations are adorable, and the way they edited it is perfect. If you haven’t picked up a copy yet, do yourself and your kids a favor, pick up the January/February 2011 issue and check out the Fun Food recipe on page 18-19. Make it, eat it, YUM!
First Monday of the new year, and my second post on my new blog – but who’s counting? This will be the year I get a second book deal. Sure, I love my first book, Keep Your Ear on the Ball, and I love seeing my work in magazines, but a second book would be magical. Plus it would ensure that I am NOT a one-book-wonder. I’d hate that. Any other one book wonders out there? Let’s talk…
I love reading blogs. Can I be a blogger? Hmmm. Will I have anything to say? Yes, probably. Will anybody care about it besides me? No, probably not. But that’s really the question. Who will care? Let’s see….
